The Windows Live Hotmail, which was previously recognized as Hotmail, is a gratis webmail service offered by Microsoft. It was originated from Hotmail and launched in the year 1996 by Sabeer Bhatia and Jack Smith. It was among the earliest free webmail services offered. In the year 1997, Hotmail was acquired by Microsoft.

Similar to the other well-known webmail services, Hotmail also uses the Ajax programming methods and supports the chief internet browsers like Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. Therefore, hotmail offers a wide range of benefits to its users with a very simple layout.
